Enspektos is an innovation consultancy providing technology-driven
Hi. My name is Fard Johnmar. I founded Enspektos* in 2005. This is my — and by extension Enspektos’ — story.
Few took me seriously, but I decided to forge ahead anyway. What do I mean? Well, let me back up a bit.
I’ve been into the Web and computers since the mid-1980s. I used the early Macintosh computers and learned BASIC in order to write simple, fun programs. I continued my love affair with all things technology during college. In the late 1990s, I taught myself HTML and experienced the joys (and horrors) of animated GIFs and splashy Flash Web page intros. Let’s just say that I’m a technology junky.
When I founded my company, I wanted to provide data-driven marketing and communications services to the health industry. I also knew the Web was important and had developed some pretty cool gaming and simulation engines in my previous job. In my gut I was convinced that the Web was going to be critical to health and saw that blogs could become a major force. But, I had a problem. There was precious little information about the Web, digital and health available to people. In fact, when I talked about blogs, wikis and “user generated content” to my peers and colleagues, they looked at me like I was crazy. During one meeting someone asked me why anyone would want to read a blog. (We know better now.)
I decided that something had to be done so I started conducting my own research into digital health and making much of it available to the world — free of charge. I knew that the Web and what came to be known as social media could have an impact on health and wellness by changing how people perceived and behaved. We just had to figure out why and how.
Turning to Enspektos, our products and services are designed to help the health industry understand how to utilize digital technologies to activate people to take action — however action is defined. This mission drives all of us here at Enspektos. In fact, in an era where many people (in health and beyond) are complaining that there’s nothing new to say about digital health and social media, I believe we still don’t know nearly enough.
Please take time to explore this site (and the presentation below) to understand what we do. And, if you’d like to work with us, or simply have questions, please get in touch.
*The name of the company, Enspektos, was inspired by the Latin word, specto, which means to see.
